Helping Domestic Violence Victims Who are Named as Child Abusers by DCFS

 

These days, DCFS penalizes by indicating parents as child abusers who are the victims of domestic violence. The Department may indicate the parent if children are in the household when the victim is battered. Recently, I successfully assisted one mother who was the victim of domestic violence in having DCFS remove her from the State Central Register of child abusers. This was crucial in that the mother works in the field of child care.
